Post 4: Adaptation for Web
For this part of the assignment i have adapted my high-fidelity mobile app designs into a high-fidelity web design. To begin with this i developed research on existing web designs for music festivals and how they differed to the mobile version. I initially realised that the web designs had a lot larger imagery than mobile as it has a lot more screen to fill. I also had seen a pattern with the navigation bar being on the top of the screen whereas usually on a mobile app it is on the bottom which increases the user flow on a desktop.
When i began designing my web design my first thought was to make sure i take the mobile app and make them look similar whilst also making sure it is effective for the web. I needed to think about how the user will interact with the web design potentially with a keyboard and mouse. I took into consideration the key elements on the mobile app and then transferred them onto the web design, for an effective layout i had to enlarge the text and images, displaying them effectively on the page. I wanted the mobile and web to look almost the same as i didn’t want the user having a completely different experience on the web. The only main difference i added was the navigation bar on the top of the screen as i felt that was easier for the user to navigate with a mouse and clearer to see. I kept the colour scheme on the web the same again to give it the same feel for both devices as i didn’t want the user feeling like they are seeing a completely different thing. On the web it feels like there is a lot whiter space as it is a larger screen which makes it easier for the user to navigate.
